No matter how great of a person you are, it’s a fact that many will not like you or understand you.

This is why I continue to make my anti-bullying You Tube videos (link below in the anti-bullying section). It’s not just to inspire others, but to selfishly remind myself.

However, if you think about it, not being liked by everyone takes a huge amount of pressure off of you. Just be yourself and life works itself out.

We are all unique individuals and we all strive to be loved and accepted. However, that’s not always the case. Some don’t understand us, therefore cannot accept us. Nevertheless, we should all continue doing what we set out to do. Continue following your dreams and celebrating your differentness!

Hey Gang! Three months ago I spoke about semi-retiring. Pear Tree is going strong on a part-time basis with some incredible things on the horizon. Just because I’m semi-retired, it doesn’t mean I’m turning my back on doors that are opening. Life is great that way! You never know what to expect.

Now that the pandemic is nearing an end, I am no longer doing ZOOM classes. Honestly, I am all ZOOMed out! I’m looking forward to, cautiously, doing public speaking and events again — LIVE!

This has been a hard year for so many. But even during moments of struggle, do not give up on your dreams. Last week my husband and I took in a scared feral kitten. It was exhausting worrying how the kitten’s bill of health was. When we heard from the vet he was perfectly healthy what a relief! But the kitten was still frightened and skittish. However, one week later, the kitten is now trusting and playful, as a kitten should be. What does this tell you? That anything situation can change to a positive within a short time. All it takes is trust. Trust in God or the Universe. And trust in yourself. Times may be challenging, but that makes going for the gold even more rewarding!

This month I have something totally new! I’ll be hosting a motivational camp for middle school and high school students at Metta Casa in Scotch Plains, NJ. For more information, see below under EVENTS.

I’m also helping people ghost write their books remotely — and it sure is fun!

There are so many negative things happening in the news right now, it could be a challenge to stay positive. In order to inspire people to be positive, I’m starting a weekly series on my personal blog page, focusing on those who are thriving during COVID19. With a little bit of thinking out of the box, you never know what could happen, right?

When lock-down began, mid-March, I was disappointed that my library lectures got canceled, one by one. But I never would have imagined that just three months later, I’d be giving online motivational classes! (Links to sign up are below). Just as nature has a way of taking care of itself, so does life in general. We get knocked down, but new doors open for us.

Wow, just wow! Last month I celebrated my 55th birthday and I can’t believe how magical August was for me. It was only the end of July that I started shopping around my memoir “I Don’t Want to Be Like You.” Well, one month later, it’s on it’s way to being traditionally published. Yes, Higher Ground Books & Media picked up my story! This is yet another dream come true. The book will be out either later this month or October.

I’m also helping two clients write their memoirs, doing some writing for R&S Landscaping (newsletters and updating their FaceBook page) (https://www.rscape.com/), and continuing with bookings for my presentations (see below).

As I am writing my fourth book, “I Don’t Want to Be Like You,” which holds as strong anti-bullying message, I’m realizing that the best thing we can do for anyone is to let them be themselves. It’s been such a blessing this past month working with people I truly like—because they are unique! People often ask me why I chose the name “Pear Tree” for my business. When coming up with a name, I figured The Beatles had success with Apple Records, so why not continue with the fruit theme. I also like the idea of something live, something delicious, and something that grows! All that sums up Pear Tree. It all started with a small vision 10 summers ago. I wanted to start my own home-based business working with people I like and doing things I love. Ten years later Pear Tree is still going strong. I’m doing more speaking engagements than ever; helping people write and edit their books prior to publication; and other freelance projects here and there. Life is good!

Be original, indeed! One thing I always say to people is to be YOUnique! And Pear Tree’s “Learn & Listen” series, certainly is unique. Last month I had the honor of working with three-time Grammy Award winner, and friend, Rob Fusari. Kim Christian at the Kinnelon Library, Kinnelon, New Jersey, hosted our “Life & Music of Freddie Mercury” from the Learn & Listen series.

I am so thankful to Rob Fusari (https://www.robfusari.com/), Richard Timberlake (http://timberlakephotos.com/), and Jayne DiGregorio (https://www.jaynedigregorio.com/) all for playing such a great role in making the series and documentary happen!

And I look forward to working with Rob again later this year when we return to the Kinnelon Library for “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: A Celebration of Elton John’s Last Tour.”

When you think about the new year, I’ve learned it’s a wonderful thing to write down your goals. Interesting that for 2017 I made a list of everything I wanted to accomplish — all but three happened! It’s been an incredible year and one I am hesitant to say good-bye to! With all the great things that have happened for Pear Tree, the biggest was the expansion of the “Learn & Listen” series, which is now being made into a documentary.

In the words of Joe Renna, “It’s not a job, it’s a lifestyle.” And what a great lifestyle it is! This month my introduction as editor for 21 New Jersey newspapers will be out; and I am blessed that I had the opportunity to mention “Learn & Listen” in all of them!
