Two weeks ago I went to see Patti Smith perform — again. She was my first cool concert, when I was 15, and I’ve been inspired by her ever since. One of my favorite Smith quotes was when she said, “I can do that!” in regard to seeing Jim Morrison on stage.

Believing in yourself is the greatest gift you can give yourself. And you don’t have to have just one talent. You can have many. That’s why the term “renaissance” comes in handy for those of us who dabble in many areas — not only in areas that we love, but areas we are good at!

Thinking as a Renaissance woman, which in modern times means “branding yourself,” is how I helped develop Pear Tree Enterprises. And I’ve been having fun ever since! It’s the Pear Tree way.

It’s so amazing what great things can happen in your life by positive thinking, creative visualization, manifestation, and having a high-five tribe. By a high-five tribe, I mean hanging out with awesome people who are supportive and think as you do. “High Five Tribe” originally referred to an outdoor activity organization, but I’ve recently heard it used by positive people who surround themselves with like-minds.

In just one Memorial Day weekend, I’ve scored two blogging clients, and a book editing client. Why? Because people like to work with me. I’m well organized, dependable, and have the High Five Tribe mindset — I’m great, you’re great, let’s be great together!

There’s no room in my life — or mindset — for thinking in terms of jealousy or competitiveness. There are more than enough riches in the world for everyone.

Best Speaker Award, Toastmasters International

A few weeks ago, I was thrilled to win “Best Speaker” award at Westfield Toastmasters! My speech was a tribute to David Bowie. I decided to write about him because the date of my speech was exactly three years after his death. I only had five to seven minutes. I began the speech with a brief mime skit prior to going into his career.

I’ll be giving this speech again on Sunday, June 2, 2019, 2 p.m. when I present “The Life and Music of David Bowie” (featuring Rob Fusari) at Scotch Plains Library, Scotch Plains, New Jersey. We are donating ALL of our proceeds from this event to animals! Half will go to CareBear Box (which benefits animals in shelters) and half will go to ROAR (which donates to various animal groups)! So be sure to make it there!

This is why David Bowie is one of my favorite people. In the quote above, it sounds like something I could have written! I, too, am working for me. Being an author, being a ghost writer, and being a speaker. I’m making a living doing just what I love and I couldn’t be happier! January 2019 came in with a bang and I’m currently helping three people write their books. I’m also blogging and writing Facebook updates for several companies.

It was super exciting to return to The Health & Wellness Show as a guest a few evenings ago. While I was the featured author, there were also two chiropractors. This event was fun and inspirational. We also sang some Christmas songs.

I trust everyone is as excited for 2019 as I am! It never fails, late December, people are either away, taking an extended holiday, or waited for the new year to get motivated! So Pear Tree is quiet during the last few weeks of December–then BAM! Everyone wants to write their book, book lectures, begin blogs, and so on. And I’m incredibly busy!

That’s why I decided that if anyone wants to start writing their book in 2018, I’m offering the old rates until Monday, January 7, 2019. Then rates are going up! (For the first time in two years!)

I was blessed beyond belief to attend the Summit of Greatness 2018 in Columbus, Ohio, early October, and also spend some quality time exploring the city. The Summit was life-changing as I experienced the testimonies of so many amazing speakers. My favorites included, of course Lewis Howes, Amy Purdy, Jay Shety, Lindsey Stirling, and Dr. Mark Hyman (who I was very honored to meet!)

Upon my return, I was inspired to start creating my You Tube Channel “Be YOUnique, the Anti-Bullying Channel.” I’m not quite ready for an official debut, but it’s out in the open if you feel inspired to poke around You Tube. I’ll be hosting videos featuring motivational speakers, musicians, friends/family, and all around greatness!

Wow, just wow! Last month I celebrated my 55th birthday and I can’t believe how magical August was for me. It was only the end of July that I started shopping around my memoir “I Don’t Want to Be Like You.” Well, one month later, it’s on it’s way to being traditionally published. Yes, Higher Ground Books & Media picked up my story! This is yet another dream come true. The book will be out either later this month or October.
