Pear Tree February 2018

DSCF1247 - 2

Vocalist Charlie Fusari and Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta

“Please go for your dreams. Whatever your ideals, you can become whatever you want to become.” … Michael Jackson

Pear Tree’s “Learn & Listen” series kicked off the year right with a wonderful tribute to Michael Jackson at the Elmwood Park Public Library. We were so lucky to get Charlie Fusari to perform before he went back to college. It was a full house and we had a great time. It was super cool when Charlie dedicated “Ben” to me at the end of the show. Then he had an encore and performed one of his originals!

Meanwhile, I’m having a blast writing and editing for Renna Media (http://rennamedia.com/). I got to reconnect with Ty Stephens, who I interviewed back in my days at The Montclair Times. Check the website for the Chathams issue – Ty is on the front cover doing a workshop at the Chatham Playhouse. It was fun seeing Ty again.

Aside from the Learn & Listen series, Pear Tree is still going strong on a part-time basis with other lectures, book signings, and ghost writing/book editing.

Lately I’ve been helping a client edit her Christian blog, which is extremely inspiring. Perhaps I can help you too?

Pear Tree January 2018

DSCF1163Happy New Year from Pear Tree Enterprises

“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”–Albert Einstein

When you think about the new year, I’ve learned it’s a wonderful thing to write down your goals. Interesting that for 2017 I made a list of everything I wanted to accomplish — all but three happened! It’s been an incredible year and one I am hesitant to say good-bye to! With all the great things that have happened for Pear Tree, the biggest was the expansion of the “Learn & Listen” series, which is now being made into a documentary.

And the final icing on the cake, was becoming the new editor for Renna Media: http://rennamedia.com/

In the words of Joe Renna, “It’s not a job, it’s a lifestyle.” And what a great lifestyle it is! This month my introduction as editor for 21 New Jersey newspapers will be out; and I am blessed that I had the opportunity to mention “Learn & Listen” in all of them!

Aside from the Learn & Listen series, Pear Tree is still going strong on a part-time basis with other lectures, book signings, and ghost writing/book editing. Would you like to try something new in 2018, like writing your first book?  Contact Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta today at: maryannechristiano@gmail.com

Pear Tree – April 2015

SAM_6933Carol Erickson (left), Maryanne Mistretta (center) and Bridget Briant (right)

Presentation of “Luck of the Irish”

“Excellence is not a singular act, but a habit. You are what you repeatedly do.” – Shaquille O’Neal

One of the coolest things is completing a writing assignment and hearing the words “Excellent job.” The more you write – or do anything – the better you get at it. Your craft becomes second nature and you’re able to do so much in a short time. People always assume I’m so busy, and I am, but “excellence” in repeating my craft keeps me on top of things.

“Love Cats” by Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta

My fictitious “Love Cats” will be published this spring! I’m honored to say, I have permission from Hal Leonard to use lyrics by Iggy Pop and The Cure! Stay tuned for more updates regarding “Love Cats.”

“The Love of God and a Good Man” by Ana Kladivko.

Anna’s memoir is just about to be wrapped up, as I’ve been helping her write her memoir for the past few months. Anna lived a very exciting and oftentimes tragic life both in Spain and the United States. It’s an honor to work closely with her as she bares her soul in this candid effort.

“Loving a Korean War Vetern” by Antoinette Lombardi

I’m thrilled to be assisting Antoinette Lombardi in writing her love story. Her husband Domenic was stationed in Korea and wrote her almost 500 letters during that time. It’s an incredible journey ferreting through the letters, photos and news clippings of that era. This will be a grand book – with photos!

“A Journey to the Gallows” by Vic Butsch and Tommy Coletti

Last year, around this time, Tommy Coletti, co-author of “A Journey to the Gallows” (available April 14, 2015) used my services to edit this amazing book. It’s the fictionalized story of American hero Aaron Dwight Stevens who fought for the rights of African Americans during the Harper’s Ferry raid.

WHAT IS ‘PEAR TREE ENTERPRISES’?

Often I’m asked, “What exactly is Pear Tree Enterprises?”

In short, Pear Tree Enterprises is a business I started back in August 2008. I registered the name in February 2009 to make what I do more than just “freelance” work. The work I do is mainly book editing, writing, copy editing and proofreading. But I also manage entertainers! Being a creative person who loves all areas of the arts, that is not so far-fetched. I give each client the individual attention they deserve by using time blocks. To see how satisfied Pear Tree clients are, please read the testimonial section.

In addition to all of the above I’ve also dabbled in personal assistance and modeling and always welcome more work.

I hope this answers your questions and I look forward to doing business with you!
