Pear Tree – November 2016

pop-and-meWith my father-in-law “Pop” a few years back

Rest in Peace, “Pop” Mistretta

“If you ask me anything I don’t know, I’m not going to answer.” Yogi Berra

On October 16, I lost my father-in-law, Anthony “Pop” Mistretta, who was the most amazing person. He was 94 when he passed and was still bowling and driving up and down the Garden State Parkway this year! Always an inspiration, Pop gave me great business advice on running Pear Tree, which is why I wanted to dedicate this month to him — and quote from Yogi Berra since Pop was a big Yankees fan.

Like Yogi Berra, Pop has his own “isms” and the best business advice he once gave me was not to worry about the big clients, but rather the small ones. And he was right. As it’s all the small clients that have kept Pear Tree going all these years.

The above photo is my favorite of us because we had so much fun that night. My husband Dennis and I took Pop to see The Characters — our good friend Danny Solazzi’s band. Always up for a good time, Pop and I had one drink after another. Dennis was the designated driver. Near the end of the night, Dennis was getting ready to pay the bill. The waitress came to our table and Pop shouted, “One more round!” The look on my husband’s face was priceless!

To read more about Pop’s life, you can see his obituary here: http://www.galantefuneralhome.com/obits/obituary.php?id=621985

Pop was much loved and this was a great loss for us. For anyone who has worked with Pear Tree, please know that Pop LOVED Pear Tree and his last words to me were, “How is your business?”

And I KNOW he is watching over us, smiling in heaven! ❤
