Pear Tree October 2021

Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta (Photo by Jeff Danze)

“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.” — Unknown

Letting go is beautiful. It’s about saying, “I have moved on to something that works better for me.”

When you work for yourself, you don’t have to bend over backwards to keep every client. Whatever the reason. A personality conflict. Using work tools that you’ve already mastered. Something is no longer an experience. It’s okay. You don’t have to burn bridges, but saying, “It’s time to move on” is not a bad thing. It means you are growing.

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?

Shoot me an email at: maryannechristiano@gmail.com

I’m available for ghost writing and memoir writing, editing, blogging, and proofreading. (NOTE: No agencies, I prefer to work with clients one-on-one.)

I’m also available for public speaking, as well as working events tables at trade shows such as Chiller and Comic Con. And my favorite, Over 50 Modeling!

Rates are reasonable, and the first hour phone (or in-person) consultation is free to potential new clients. Every client who uses Pear Tree services will be featured in the newsletter (unless for whatever reason they don’t want to be in the newsletter, as privacy is respected).

WRITING/BOOKS/JOURNALISM

Pear Tree – November 2016

pop-and-meWith my father-in-law “Pop” a few years back

Rest in Peace, “Pop” Mistretta

“If you ask me anything I don’t know, I’m not going to answer.” Yogi Berra

On October 16, I lost my father-in-law, Anthony “Pop” Mistretta, who was the most amazing person. He was 94 when he passed and was still bowling and driving up and down the Garden State Parkway this year! Always an inspiration, Pop gave me great business advice on running Pear Tree, which is why I wanted to dedicate this month to him — and quote from Yogi Berra since Pop was a big Yankees fan.

Like Yogi Berra, Pop has his own “isms” and the best business advice he once gave me was not to worry about the big clients, but rather the small ones. And he was right. As it’s all the small clients that have kept Pear Tree going all these years.

The above photo is my favorite of us because we had so much fun that night. My husband Dennis and I took Pop to see The Characters — our good friend Danny Solazzi’s band. Always up for a good time, Pop and I had one drink after another. Dennis was the designated driver. Near the end of the night, Dennis was getting ready to pay the bill. The waitress came to our table and Pop shouted, “One more round!” The look on my husband’s face was priceless!

To read more about Pop’s life, you can see his obituary here: http://www.galantefuneralhome.com/obits/obituary.php?id=621985

Pop was much loved and this was a great loss for us. For anyone who has worked with Pear Tree, please know that Pop LOVED Pear Tree and his last words to me were, “How is your business?”

And I KNOW he is watching over us, smiling in heaven! ❤

Pear Tree – October 2016

sam_1357Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta (left) and Ashley Patino

“We can only reach the highest height, if we encourage each other.” — Lailah Gifty Akita, Pearls of Wisdom: Great Mind

Since so many people loved last month’s “friendship” theme, I decided to keep it going and share about another beautiful friend.

When my first book was published in 2014, I met Ashley at one of my book-signings. Even though I am 26 years older than her, we really hit it off and became great friends. Soon afterwards she invited me to read at an event she hosted to raise money for animals called Rock ‘n Paws. Ashley is such an incredible young lady — wise beyond her years and very loving. I was thrilled that she asked me to officiate her wedding to Mitchell Patino, September 24, 2016. All of their family and friends were the warmest people you’d ever want to meet. I am so honored to have Ashley in my life! ❤

Pear Tree – January 2016

SAM_9278Selfie at Elmwood Park Library, always having fun!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

“If you didn’t do anything that wasn’t good for you it would be a very dull life. What are you gonna do? Everything that is pleasant in life is dangerous.” – Lemmy Kilmister

Almost nine years ago, I took a big chance. I left a cushy job as editorial assistant without a back-up plan. After a summer of rest and working part-time at a little health food store, which was even more frustrating, I decided to start Pear Tree Enterprises and lived happily ever after.

This summer will mark the ninth anniversary of Pear Tree. In the beginning, I took on all kinds of jobs and clients; and have crafted Pear Tree into solely a business of writing, ghost writing, book editing, typing, public speaking/lectures. Not only am I doing the things I love most, but working with people I adore! Life is truly pleasant when you take that “dangerous” chance and trust yourself! Perhaps 2016 is the year for you to take that chance?

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?

Feel free to contact me in regard to using my services (writing, ghost writing, book editing, typing, public speaking/lectures) at: MaryAnneChristiano@Gmail.com.
