A few weeks ago I celebrated my 59th birthday. It was shortly afterwards that I realized that nothing intimidates me anymore. It’s liberating to know that you can simply walk away from anything that is unsatisfying to your being. You don’t need it! And on the flip side, you can GO FOR your dreams! During the past month, I’ve taken several business chances–I mean, really going for the gold! And I’m excited to see what will manifest. You can do it too — believe in yourself; we have to believe we are magic!

Pear Tree — May 2016

Last photograph of me with 19-year-old Derick at animal hospital.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France

This was one of the saddest weekends of my life. I had to put down my most beautiful 19-year-old kitty, Derick, aka “Mommy’s Little Heart.” The poor thing had kidney failure and this past week was spent in and out of the vet and animal hospital.

We learn a lot from our pets, and one thing Derick taught me was strength. The little critter was typical of the phrase “a cat has nine lives” as throughout the years, no matter what, he just wouldn’t give up. From allergies to thyroid issues and finally kidney failure, little Derick was on my lap as I worked at home running Pear Tree. My husband often referred to him as my “secretary.”

And after 19 healthy, happy years, Derick declined suddenly and I said my last words to my baby. May he rest in peace, at the Rainbow Bridge — until our souls meet again.
